Beautiful Stories of the Lord

Through The Eyes of Jesus  by Alan Ames -  This is the book currently being read when we have gatherings in the Sanctuary.  What you see here is the Trilogy edition containing vols. 1, 2, and 3  ...all under one hard cover.  Originally I purchased the three, individually; Vol. 1 on the evening that I met Alan in San Antonio, Texas after reading in the newspaper that he would be speaking that very night.

It is difficult to describe this book without also telling you about its unlikely author.  Just to say this much needs clarification.  The entire book is Jesus speaking.  Alan simply put down on paper what he was "told" to write.  Mr. Ames is certainly no Bible scholar.  His background was that of a motorcycle gang member and drunkard.  He would go to church once a year on Christmas to keep alive his claim that he was a Catholic.  Apparently he was not a very nice person.

Needless to say, then, that this book has been gone thru with a very fine comb by countless Catholic scholars.  After all, to claim that all the words in the book are those of Jesus is a perfect scenario for skeptics.  However, just the opposite happened.  The books has passed all the tests with flying colors, leaving the Catholic elite simply amazed.  Again, by all reckoning, considering Mr. Ames total lack of any formal Christian teaching, he should never had been able to write something like this in the first place.  Certainly not off the top of his head, in one pass, as would naturally happen if a person was, in fact, simply taking dictation.

When I listened to Alan speak in San Antonio he told an amazing story: how an inner voice and prayer sobered him up and how he began to write down the amazing narrative that compiles this wonderful book.  And wonderful it is.  Very wonderful!  To argue over the validity of the book totally misses the point.  The fact is that by reading it your love for Jesus will greatly multiply.

Clicking on the book with again take you to Amazon.com.  Apparently these books are rather difficult to find.  Amazon has some new and used copies.  Perhaps only the individual volumes (1,2,3) will be available.  I see some trilogies for sale but they are around $70 and up, used.

This is the link where I ordered my book (http://www.alanames.org/en/) but I highly advise that you first confirm by e-mail that they have the books shown in stock, etc.  Save you correspondence. They show all the books here and for a lot less.  But, when I ordered my copy I ended up having to e-mail them as they had no record that I had  ordered via Paypal.  I just wish things went more smoothly rather than having to tell you to be cautious when ordering.
