Bhagavad-gita As It Is  by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.  I remember way back in the 1960s first hearing about this book.  Just the way the Bhagavad-gita sounded when pronounced was totally cool.  But sadly, everyone said that it was next to impossible to understand.  Many years later I was given the Bhagavad-gita As It Is and immediately found it simple to read.  It was crystal clear to me that Swami Prabhupada was a true master at understanding the Gita and that now, with his help, the truth of this famous book could be revealed to me.  I remember how just the introduction to the book was one of the best religious documents I had ever read.  I learned more about God and my relationship with Him in just these dozen or so pages than I had in my entire life.  Needless to say I highly recommend it to you.

....So one day I (Deenanath das) went in, I been his servant for just a month, 1972 - I was 21 years old. He was reading Bhagavad-gita. At this time there was only half a dozen books. First Canto Srimad Bhagavatam was there, Nectar of Devotion, Krsna Book, Bhagavad-gita As It Is….and Prabhupada was reading Bhagavad-gita and he rang his bell so I went in. And I offered obeisances and sat up, and he is holding his book, he has his reading glasses on and he just looks at me. I said, ‘Yes Prabhupada.’ And he said, ‘If you just read this one book, you can become Krsna conscious.’
