Pastors
of The Oasis Church of the Holy Spirit, the Reverends
James and Janet Hunter say that, "their goal is souls
for Jesus." Leading thousands to the saving knowledge of
Christ each year in her hospice chaplaincy, Janet also
pastors the church located at 13013 Canterbury Rd,
Spring Branch, TX 78070. In addition to people finding
the Lord, her prayer team has witnessed many healings
both physically and emotionally, taught many their own
spiritual gifts and how to use them for the Lord,
counseled many individuals, families, married couples
and even pastors. Her biggest gift is evangelism and she
also has developed a great teaching ministry from her
experience in teaching college students. Her lessons
are easily understood and applicable to everyday life.
Her ministry tithes to other ministries that are
reaching people for Christ, orphanages, women’s
shelters, safe havens for children in the slave trade
overseas, local food banks, hospice benevolences,
Disable American Veterans, and local ministries for the
needy in the community.
As a hospice
chaplain for twelve years, Rev. Janet Hunter has
overseen over 4000 deaths. She has firsthand
information about the heavenly realm that her patients
see and describe to her. The audiences hang onto
every word as she shares her patients’
experiences and death is no longer a mystery or fearful
to the listener. She has officiated over 1000
funerals to date and is known at the bedsides of most
for the old hymns she sings acappella which gives her
patients the peace they need to let go and walk into
heaven. She is asked to speak on death, dying and
bereavement in churches, nursing homes, community
organizations, memorial services, Stephens’ groups and
retreats. She left her 20 year executive position
in the computer industry to serve her Lord full-time as
a hospice chaplain. Rev. Hunter was assistant
pastor at a local church for several years where she
taught children, teens and adult classes. At that
time she designed the Hey Teenager Need a Friend?
program.
She and her family presented this common sense program
in many churches and high schools in and around the San
Antonio area. As a certified faith based counselor and
ordained minister, she works with individuals with their
counseling needs. With a passion for officiating
weddings, she can hold them at any location, backyards,
rivers, beaches, cruises, anywhere the bride and groom
request. This is her "breath of fresh air". She has
attended many healing schools, glory schools, and
deliverance classes featuring some of the most anointed
speakers and ministers in the nation. In the Oasis
Church services, the Holy Spirit is given the floor to
move in mighty ways without religious restrictions. She
feels this is the course God is leading her on and
enjoys individual and group prayer for God’s people. As
she humbly gives God all the glory for what He does in
her ministry, she replies, "What an honor, for the
Creator of all things to pick me up and use me as a tool
for His kingdom and His people……what a great, great,
honor."
